| Paharies concerned over unemployment | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sep 1: Reminding Government of India to concede the demand of granting scheduled tribe status to Pahari community, Chief Executive of J&K Pahari Peoples Movement Shahbaz Khan has said that thousands of Pahari unemployed may fall pray in the hands of anti-national agencies because they are undergoing stress due to complete ignorance of the government. Issuing a statement here, Shahbaz Khan said that there are thousands of youth in Rajouri, Poonch, Uri and Karnah areas who are awaiting jobs after completing their studies. He said that they are not getting any chance due to having no reservation for them. He said that on the other hand, Gujjar and Bakerwals are getting due benefits under reservation. “Our youth are undergoing an acute stress and they may fall in the hands of anti-national agencies”, Khan said adding that if Pahari youth will take any such step, government of India will be responsible for that. He said that 6 tribes have been given the status delaying it to Paharies for the last 20 years. “We are just demanding our right”, he said adding that the state assembly had already passed a resolution for granting ST status to Paharies. He added that when Registrar General on India put some query on the resolution and sent it to state Assembly; it was again strongly recommended by the assembly to New Delhi. Reminding Government of India, Shahbaz Khan said that his organization had surveyed in Rajouri and Poonch and found thousands of educated Pahari youth under intense stress. They are striving hard for jobs but they are not getting chance, he said adding that there is possibility of falling these youth pray in the hands of anti national elements. “Anti-national elements always try to mislead youth who are stress and we are serious about the issue because we have many youths in stress”, he added. Meanwhile Khan also said that there are thousands of Pahari officials working in state government departments who are not getting promotions whereas their colleagues having ST category have get three promotions. “We are living in same condition, getting education from same school but why discrimination is being done with us”, Khan questioned.
