EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sep 1: The most revered holy procession of yearly Shri Krishan Janamashtmi that announced the advent of the festivity a day before was marked with celebrations that included great pomp and show.
The traditional shobha yatra passing through the city was a usual phenomenon that did pass with eloquence and grandeur but with a conspicuous anecdote that needs to be seen clinically into.
Earlier as per the traditional ethics the yatra should have been a collected festivity of all Hindu representatives, this year it was an alienated affair that presented a suspicious pointer over the integrity of religious heads in Jammu standing poles apart.
While the Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust had its own procession passed through the different route, the other major segment of Sanatan Dharam Sabha chose Geeta Bhavan as the convenient starting point for the yatra in the praise of Lord Krishna.
Though the multi-procession system in the city might have caught the people‘s fancy for witnessing the more elaborate activity, the inference that percolated into the common masses have evidently proved that Lord Krishna now has divided fanfare of Hindu ethicalities.
Thousands of people including pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishnu Deviji , prominent citizens, political leaders and leaders of various social and religious organizations followed the Raghunathji Rath Yatra taken out on the eve of Shri Krishana – Janamashtami doing keertan and singing devotional songs from Shri Raghunathji Mandir here.
The Holy Rath Yatra started from the historical Shri Raghunathji Mandir after performing special Rath Pooja and prayers.
The President of the Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust Thakur Divakar Singh in association with President Dharmik Yuvak Mandal Jammu, Shri Sanjay Anand , Sangrakshak Shri Dharni Dhar , President Raghunath Bazaar Businessmen’s Association Shri Surinder Mahajan , President Shiv Sena Hindustan Shri Dimpy Kohli and several others Heads of the Organisations led the Rath Yatra .
About two dozens of impressive tableaux prepared on the holy teachings of Shrimat Bhagwat Geetaji and the life of Shri Bhagwan Krishanji followed the Shri Raghunathji Rath.
Due to the ongoing development road works in old city area, the traditional Rath Yatra route has been cut short to facilitate development works. The Rath Yatra passed through Residency Road, Rajinder Bazaar , Kanak Mandi , City Chowk, Raghunath Bazaar and culminated at Shri Raghunath ji Mandir.
En-route, several traders’ associations and individuals put up welcome gates. All city bazaars were decorated with decorating materials. Fluorescent lights were put up. Endowed rich in the devotional ambience people halted the sacred Rath of Shri Raghunathji at various places and performed pooja. People standing on both the sides of the roads showered flowers.
Philanthropic persons had arranged stalls of various eatables and offered eatables to all those devotees and others who joined the Rath Yatra. . Significantly, this year several educational institutions along with their school bands participated in the Shri Raghunath Ji Rath Yatra.
