Diabetes India to organize conference

JAMMU, Sept 2: Diabetes India, an organization of international repute Diabetologists, is going to hold its first ever two-day conference in Jammu from September 4.
This was announced by Dr Jitender Singh renowned Diabetologist and chairman Organizing Committee and National Executive Member Diabetes India in a press conference here today.
He informed that the two day conference will be formally inaugurated on September 4 at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium by Prof Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu.
He added that Dr S.M. Sadikot, President ‘Diabetes India’ and Vice President, ‘International Diabetes Federation’ (IDF) will be specially arriving in Jammu for the occasion.
Dr Singh said that it was in humble recognition of some of the pioneering research data on Diabetes published by him and his team in the last 20 years that Jammu had today prominently emerged on the world map of Diabetes and also chosen as a venue for such a prestigious conference.
He further elaborated that the scientific programme for the conference had been futuristically planned to include all the current as well as recent aspects in Diabetes research and the faculty speakers at the conference will include some of the leading professors of Diabetes from across the country including Dr Prasanna Kumar from Bengaluru, Dr Vijay Vishwanathan from Chennai, Dr Jamal Ahmad from Aligarh Muslim University, Dr Sarita Bajaj from Allahabad, Dr. S.K. Singh from B.H.U Varanasi, Dr S K Wangnoo from New Delhi and Dr A H Zargar from SKIMS Srinagar.
Giving details about the date on diabetes, he pointed to the rising incidence of Diabetes in North India and said that even in and around Jammu the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes was upto 15% while Gestational Diabetes of Pregnancy was upto 6 to 8%.
Organizing Secretaries of the conference, Dr Sunil Gupta and Dr Rajesh Gupta were also present in the press conference.
