PK dismisses proposition of political empowerment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 2: Panun Kashmir (PK) has vehemently dismisses the proposition of some Kashmiri Pandits groups especially All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) of so called political empowerment. In a meeting of the Political affairs committee of PK, the members criticized the vague political proposals of AIKS have been making rounds since the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. AIKS has always been toeing rather overzealously pursuing a pro-establishment line since its inception. The slogan of political empowerment coined by AIKS stands rejected by the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community. In the name of political empowerment of Kashmiri Pandits, nominating a MLA or minister in the state government since 1947 has in no way stopped the miseries, discrimination denial and ultimately their expulsion from their land of birth. PK asked the AIKS to refrain from ambiguous stands and speak in one voice like all the other organizations of the community who have unanimously endorsed the political stand of creation of Home Land for 7 lakh Kashmiri Pandits with Union Territory status in Valley. Panun Kashmir is of the firm opinion that the survival and continuity of progeny is possible only with creation of Home Land for 7 lakh KPs in the valley . Political affairs committee of Panun Kashmir chaired by Dr Agni Shekhar appealed to KP Community and other socio – political groups of community to remain steadfast in their resolve. The meeting took a serious note of the partisan attitude of present day government who have neglected and abandoned Kashmiri Pandits. The glaring example of this partisan attitude is curtailing the scale of ration from 50 Kgs to 20 Kgs for KPs. The scale of ration for Kashmiri Muslims in the valley is 50 Kgs. The survival of community is in peril due to enormous price rise in recent years. Meager increase of Rs 250 in relief was a cruel joke on the community. Panun Kashmir demonstrated against the meager increase of cash relief in view of the immense suffering the Community is facing. Panun Kashmir asks the State and Central Government to immediately enhance the relief to Rs 12000 per month for survival of Kashmiri Pandit Community.
