Jammu to host 56th national school games | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 2: Amid turmoil in the state, Jammu is all set to host much awaited 56th national school games and under 19 football championships to be held from September 20 to October 1, 2010. Earlier, School Games Federation of India (SGFI) had allotted these events both Jammu and Kashmir but due to unrest in the valley, SGFI has accepted request of the authorities to hold both these events in Jammu. Six venues have been finalized for holding the matches. These include Maulana Azad Stadium, University of Jammu Grounds, Governments GGM Science College Grounds, BSF Paloura, Gulshan Ground and Youth Hostel Nagrota. A coach on the condition of anonymity, the games would be acid test for the sports authorities in Jammu as post of the secretary of the state sports council is still vacant. About 25 states of the country are participating in these events. Department of Youth Service and Sports (DYSS) is making all out efforts for smooth conduct of these events. The matches in boys section would be played from September 20 to 25 while girls will be seen in action from September 27 to October 1. Director Youth Service and Sports S.A.Laharwal said that preparations are in full swing for successful conduct of the tournament.
