Kud dance of Jammu gets Commonwealth Games invite | | | Early Times Report REASI, Sept 2: Kud dancers of Jammu and Kashmir will find place in opening ceremony of forthcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Dogra dance “Kud” is traditional dance of the Jammu. Preparation for this purpose is going on in full swing. Earlier, the Commonwealth Games 2010 Committee had invited traditional dance. Around 30 dancers from militancy affected village Bakkel will perform the dance on October 3 in New Delhi. “This is the first time when we are going out of Jammu. We are very happy since we have got a chance to show our skill in an International event”, the leader of the dance group, Sanjay Singh said. Another member of the group Ashok said that it would provide them an opportunity to meet national and international athletes at New Delhi. With no formal professional training, most members of the group are students from class four to ten but their performance was praised by all including the noted artist Director Natrang Theater group Balwant Thakur. As per villagers, dance has already been performed in many international events by villagers.
