Punjab announces Rs 1 crore relief for Leh victims | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 2: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today led a high level delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal MPs and MLAs. The delegation today arrived with first consignment of 11 trucks of relief for the Leh flood victims. Badal formally handed over the consignment of relief to Chhering Dorje, Chief Executive Councilor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh. Moved by massive devastation the Deputy Chief Minister also announced a relief of rupees 1 crore for Leh flood victims from Punjab government side. Realizing the shortage of feed for animals Badal announced that Punjab would soon dispatch a consignment of 15000 bales of hay stock besides 25000 quintals of animal feed. Badal also announced a cash relief of rupees 5 lac each to two Sikh families from SAD, whose shops were washed away in flash flood. Appreciating the interest of a 9 year old local girl whose studies in Chandigarh got disrupted as her family lost everything, Badal announced that Punjab government would adopt this girl and bear total expenditure of his studies. Badal also gave away rupees 5 lac for the reconstruction of Gurduwara Sri Pathar Sahib. Accompanied by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Balwinder Singh Bhunder(both MPs), Bikram Singh Majithia (MLA) and Harcharan Bains , Media Advisor to CM, Badal went to relief camp set up in Solar Colony to give shelter to displaced victims. He also shared grief with the flood victims for the enormous loss suffered by them in this unprecedented natural disaster.
