Asiya, Fahmeeda booked under PSA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 2: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and her close aide Sofi Fahmeeda were today booked under public safety Act (PSA). Both had been sfifted to the central Kot-Bhalwal jail in Jammu. "Asiya and Fahmeeda have been booked under PSA and shifted to the Kot-Bhalwal jail in Jammu," acting DeM chairperson Rifat Fatima said in a statement. She condemned invoking of PSA against the duo as "frustration" of the government. "We also condemn their shifting to Kot-Bhalwal despite directions by the High Court and Supreme Court in 2009," she added. Asiya was arrested on August 28 last during a raid at Habak Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar city and lodged in Rambagh jail for women. She had gone underground to evade arrest since the outbreak of unrest in the valley. Official sources said Asiya was booked for "inciting people against the state and police." The PSA orders were issued by district magistrate, Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, the sources added. Despite repeated attempts, Kakroo could not be contacted for his comments. |
