JeM Div comdr killed, one arrested, Jawan injured | Bhati Dhar encounter | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 5: One ultra claimed to be Divisional Commander of Jaish-Mohammad was killed while another arrested in Bhati Dhar encounter. An army trooper has also received serious injuries in the gunfight following which he has been airlifted to Command Hospital Udhampur. Two civilians have been picked up by the police for questioning in the allegations of abetting the militants. As per details, Special Operation Group of Police and troops of 37 Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off Thera village in Bhati Dhar area of Mendher in Poonch district. Following inputs of presence of two militants, army and SoG had laid the cordoned at about 11 PM last night. However the contact was established at about 6:30 am when militants were offered to surrender. Sources said that these militants had taken shelter in a house belonging to Khaliq Hussain for the last two days. Sources said that following army and police evacuated all civilians from the house, they warned the militants to surrender but when get no response, they initiated firing which was continuously retaliated by the militants. The encounter continued for about 7 hours and was culminated at about 2 PM in the afternoon. Sources said that a Pakistani militant identified as Omar Khatab claimed to be Divisional Commander of JeM was killed while his associate Mohammad Zubair son of owner of the house Khaliq Hussain was captured alive. In the encounter an army trooper Sajan Singh has received serious bullet injury who has been airlifted to command hospital Udhampur. Police has also lifted house owner Khaliq Hussain and his another son Saddam Hussain for questioning regarding giving shelter to the militants. When contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Manmohan Singh confirmed killing of one JeM Divisional Commander. He said that they have also arrested his close associate Mohammad Zubair who had recently joined the outfit. SSP said that the killed Pakistani militant was operating in the area for the last 7 months. He added that one army trooper has also received injuries in the encounter. SSP said that they have recovered two AK 47 rifles, 2 magazines, one grenade, one Chinese Pistol, 2 Nokia Mobile Phones, 2 pouches, one radio set and Indian Currency amounting Rs 62000 from the possession of these militants.
