9/5/2010 10:58:00 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Worsening Kashmir situation calls for taking effective and realistic measures alongside resumption of stalled dialogue process for the restoration of permanent peace and normalcy. For this, congress leadership both in the state and the centre has to take lead in creating a congenial atmosphere for the success of this dialogue process.
This was stated by senior congress leader and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil in a statement issued here today. He said that situation calls for taking proactive measures and announcing a healing touch policy for those who have lost their kith and kin in the last three months.
Vakil said that Jammu and Kashmir government should focus all its energies in resurrecting the environment of peace and prosperity.
He implored upon Congress leadership to take lead in healing wounds of those who have suffered for no fault of theirs. "Several innocents have lost their lives. Time has come for Congress leadership to serve the people with balm of love and affection. We have to reach out to every commoner across Jammu and Kashmir and assure him of delivering Justice in all circumstances," Vakil said.
He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should begin delivering on political, security and economic fronts. "We cannot wait for folded hands for divine intervention for restoring peace and normalcy in the state. Chief Minister has resources at his command and now, he should start utilizing all those for the betterment of people of Jammu and Kashmir," Vakil opined.
Welcoming the open-ended dialogue offer of Union Home Minister P Chidambram, Vakil pleaded with separatists to accept the same and help the state government in restoring law and order. He further appealed the separatists to leave the path of violence and bloodshed since it is going further vitiate the atmosphere. "Dialogue is the only way out.
