Teachers’ Day celebrated across Jammu region | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 5: The birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan was celebrated as Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm across Jammu region. A function was organized to mark the occasion at Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School here today. MLA Jammu East constituency Ashok Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion while Director School Education, Jammu Zahida Khan was the guest of honour. JK Sudan, Principal of the institution along with staff members received and welcomed the guests and presented mementoes to the Chief Guest and Guest of honour. Students and teachers of the institution participated actively in the celebration. Students especially Kamalpreet Singh, Alok Trikha and Dheeraj and teachers Kadamdini, Jyoti Swaroop, Dr Pawan Khajuria and Sheetal Gupta expressed their views on the importance of Teachers’ Day. Speaking on the occasion Ashok Khajuria stressed upon the teaching community to work with zeal to bring good results and congratulated the principal and staff for achieving three positions in board results during the session 2009-2010. Zahida Khan, Director School Education Jammu, also instructed the teachers and students to follow the teachings of Dr Radhakrishanan. Government Girls High School Katra also celebrated Teachers’ Day. The function was started by lightening the lamps by CEO Reasi KK Sharma as guest of honour. The culture activities like Folk dance, Group dance, Poetry, Symposiums, singing and dancing performed by the children. Lions Club Supremes, Kathua celebrated Teachers Day at its head office here today by organizing a special programme. On the occasion the chief education officer KK Gupta was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering CEO said that the teachers are the main and fundamental directors of a nation. They can shape the culture, character and development of the nation by educating its people.
