Cross-culture Iftar party marks ACI’s Teachers’ Day celebrations

Darhal, Sep 6: Attitude Change International (ACI) active in imparting peace education for past couple of years, organized a cross- cultural Iftar Party on Teachers Day’s here today.
The organization is working to promote tolerance, non-violence, communal harmony, culture of understanding and co-existence for attaining lasting peace and sustainable development.
Over 200 people representing different communities, sects, religious affiliations, political parties, economic levels, age groups, and various govt departments mainly education from various parts of Rajouri were invited for an iftar.
In the day long program divided into three sessions, a seminar was organized in which various speakers threw light on the role of teachers in producing more responsible and tolerant global citizens for a just peaceful and prosperous world.
Senior Congress leader Mohd Iqbal Malik who chaired the session, stressed upon the teacher community to deliver their duties with full honesty and dedication. District Planning Officer, Rajouri, Arif Malik, chief guest of session, while terming teachers as builders of nation, asserted upon the teachers to do justice with their noble profession. The speakers included Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rtd.) and NC leader Talib Hussain Malik, Mohd Iqbal Shawl, Rashid Qamar, Prof. Mohd Sajjar and Karamat Ullah Dard who highlighted the role of teachers. They appreciated the role of ACI in organizing such kind of eye-opener program and for being a leader in imparting peace education in India.
To mark teachers’ day and encourage the young teachers, and boost their morals to restore trust and educational standards especially of govt schools, ACI initiated presenting awards to outstanding and exemplary teachers, administrators and students. Headmaster, Govt High School Dodaj, Shafqat Hussain Shah and Headmistress Govt High School Nadian, Shamim Akhter Shawl were given best Administrator Award in male and female categories respectively whereas ex-Lecturer Mohd Aslam Malik was presented Best Teacher Award. Mohd Kashif Malik an ex- student of Eagle Public School, Darhal who topped in Matriculation exam this year was given best student award.
In the earlier session, an inter-school quiz competition on Holy Ramadan was also organized in which various schools especially private schools participated. Modern Public School bagged first prize whereas Sunshine Institute of Education, Darhal and Darhal Public School received second and third prizes respectively.
A Mehfil-e-Naat was other attraction of program in which various naat singers including noted poets cum singers Pervaiz Malik, Rashid Qamar and Arif Malik sang the religious poetry. Spiritual leader Syed Nisar Hussain Shah prayed for world peace and communal harmony on the eve of holy Ramadan before the people went for a typical aligarian type of Iftar Party.
President of organization, Dr. M. Ashaq Raza, a peace worker and human rights activist, gave welcome address where as secretary of organization, Mohd. Aijaz Malik presented vote of thanks.
