JMC conducts anti-adulteration drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 6:A team of Food Inspectors led by Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation inspected various food establishments to check the quality of food items being sold in the city especially during the holy month of Ramzan and forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr Festival. The team inspected various food establishments including Sweet Shops, Milk and Milk Products shops, Cooked Food Dhabas, Cheese shops, Fruit Juice Corners, Meat / Chicken Shops, Tea Stalls etc., in the areas of Indira Chowk, Gujjar Nagar, Below Gumat, Bikram Chowk, BC Road, Rehari Colony, Janipur Roop Nagar, Canal Road. During the inspection about 120 food establishments/vendors were checked and 35 numbers of defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. A fine of Rs 10600 was charged from the defaulters on spot. Besides this, the team also destroyed 50 Kgs of substandard milk, about 20 kg of stale cooked food and 30 kgs of rotten fruits.
