Teachers, students construct school shed in Poonch village | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sep 6: The teachers and students of Government High School, Sanai, Surankote block of Poonch have done a commendable job by constructing a school shed of 180’x12’ size with four stair-steps having seating capacity of over 400 students. Due to lack of infrastructural facilities including accommodation it was indeed impossible to run the institution with 430 students on roll in the inclement weather with only existing nine rooms. The teachers of the school under the leadership of Mohd Shafi Qureshi Headmaster decided to construct a school shed with old used GIC sheets / wooden planks to mitigate the academic sufferings of the students frequently caused due to inadequate accommodation. An amount of Rs.30, 000 contributed by the teachers and equal amount of Rs.30,000 raised from school fund with usage of old used GIC sheets and wooden planks, a school shed has been erected with self help and students contribution. The construction of school shed has become a model for others to follow in the area. Seeing the positive response of the teachers/students, the Government has sanctioned construction of four additional rooms in the school which on its completion would provide a boon to the students of this remote institution situated in border district of the state.
