| Ravinder raises power issue with CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sep 6: Ravinder Sharma-MLC General Secretary and Spokesperson PCC today apprised the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the power situation in Sunderbani, Nowshera and parts of Kalakote area and urged for urgent measures to provide relief to the people.
The Congress leader discussed the issue with the Chief Minister today at Burn, after commissioning of the Burn to Akhnoor transmission line. He expressed gratitude for early completion of Burn-Akhnoor transmission, which would reduce the load of Akhnoor area from the overloaded Kalakote transformer.
This is likely to stabilize the power situation in Nowshera-Sunderbani area to some extent.Sharma said he had taken up this demand in the District Development Board Meet last year and apprised the CM about the need to address the power situation in this area, on top priority, as people of these areas are suffering badly. He also urged for upgradation of the capacity of Kalakote transmission transformer and laying of a ring line from Rajouri to Rajal, for flow of surplus power available from Rajouri to Nowshera-Sunderbani area. This issue was discussed in the District Development Board meeting also at Rajouri last month.
Sharma was assured that the issues raised by him would be examined on priority and the work on setting up of grid station at Siot would start soon in next few days. Besides the process of completion of under construction transmission line, from Burn to Siot would be further expedited. He was told that the transmission line from Burn and grid station Siot would be got completed by March next. |
