| BJP to bring bill for preventing misuse of religious places | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: The BJP would bring a bill in the ensuing session of the State Assembly to enact a law providing for stringent measures to prevent the misuse of religious places for anti-national activities including the blaring of acrimonious utterances and other such like slogans as also issuing of highly vitriolic directions from places of worship. Disclosing this here today, the leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that in the troubled valley of Kashmir for quite sometime past certain separatist and anti-India outfits are engaged in indulging in spreading venom and highly objectionable directions from such places. The Indian Parliament had enacted a law in this regard as far back as in 1988 but it was unfortunate that this has not been extended to Jammu and Kashmir even after 22 years of its enactment. In the prevailing circumstances, especially in the troubled valley of Kashmir though there is no greater need for such a law than in Jammu and Kashmir. He said it is a strange phenomenon that the representatives from this State take part in enacting laws beneficial for the entire country but astoundingly these do not apply to this State and thus, the people of the State are deprived of the benefits of such measures which are good for crores of other Indians except the people of this part of the country. This separatist approach is the root cause for many evils growing here and causing difficulties not only for the people of this State but also for the entire country. For this the ruling leadership of the Congress and that of the National Conference is fully responsible, he alleged. |
