JAMMU, Sep 6: Two persons, including a 12th class student of Ranbir Higher Secondary School, were killed and two others wounded critically in two road mishaps here today.
Police sources said a 12th class student of Ranbir school was killed and his classmate injured seriously when their motorcycle met with an accident at Chinore, about 12 km from here near Bantalab, in the morning.
While Mohammad Zeeshan Khan (17), son of Shoukat Ahmad -- a junior engineer -- drove the brand new Pulsar motorcycle, his friend and classmate Pankaj (18), son of Hans Raj of Kot-Bhalwal, sat on the pillion seat.
They were going to take their tuition class when the mishap occurred at about 6.15 am, the sources added.
Sources said the motorcycle was speeding and it skidded off the road when Zeeshan tried to overtake a minibus as a result of which the duo fell on the ground.
Zeeshan's head smashed against the cemented road divider, resulting in his instant death. Pankaj fell on the other side and sustained critical injuries on head and other parts of the body, the sources added.
The dead hailed from Vikas Nagar, Janipura. Pankaj was undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital and his condition was stated to be serious.
A case in this connection stands registered at the Chinore police post.

The dead was identified as Rajveer Singh, son of Jasveer Singh of Digiana, and the injured as Paramjit Singh, son of Trilok Singh.
Trilok, who too hails from Digiana, was admitted to GMC hospital.
