Free flow of Indian constitution only solution to Kmr problem: BJP | Omar’s statement ridiculed | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 7: Veteran BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said the free flow of Indian Constitution by shunning communal and regional consideration and grant of democratic rights at the gross root level could be the only honest and sincere solution to the Kashmir imbroglio. Prof. Gupta, who is leader of BJP Legislators Party said this while commenting upon the recent statement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah that status quo is not only the option available to sort out the issues in Kashmir but other measures can also be considered. He observed that the problems have cropped up but for narrow communal and other parochial considerations in wake of the painful communal partition of the country in 1947. Making his point, BJP leader said the grant of separate status under Article 370 has come to be the root cause of secessionism. This was the outcome of communal infection which has been assuming serious proportions time to time in Kashmir. Because of it not only the people of this unfortunate State but also the entire country is facing the evil effects, he added and said that keeping in view the past happenings India can hardly afford any more such division. The BJP leader ridiculed the fresh promise of the Chief Minister that the elections to the Panchayats and local bodies would be held before the end of this year to empower the people at basic level. Prof. Gupta recalled that this very Chief Minister and some of has senior colleagues in the Congress too, after formation of this Coalition in January 2009, had loudly announced to hold these election “soon after the Lok Sabha polls” but over 15 months have passed after this. But neither the elections to these basic democracies were held nor the 73rd and 74th Amendments of the Indian Constitution were extended to this State although this promise was also made by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, at Udhampur as far back as in April, 2007. Prof. Gupta was addressing series of meetings of the party activists. These were organized in connection with the party campaign to impress upon the Coalition leaders of State as also the Government at New Delhi to tackle the anti-national activities and secessionism in Kashmir, give up the approach of blunting the weapons with which the proxy war launched by Pakistan could be fought as the boggy of violation of human rights and demand for curtailing the special powers of the forces, are a part of the game plan of the enemy agents and dubious characters. He alleged that by demoralizing the forces they intend to have their way. It was ridiculous that certain ruling leaders of the Congress. National Conference as also some others too, are speaking in similar voices and thus, the forces are being put in a humiliating position. He also assailed the Coalition leaders of the NC-Congress claiming that they were extending equal treatment to all people. He quoted numerous instances that the discrimination against Jammu was not only continuing but assuming new proportions, so much so, even in the supply of rations there is glaring disparity which have been developed during this regime as in Jammu per ration card holder is being supplied just 30 Kgs of both wheat-Atta and rice as against this in the Valley this ration scale is 50 Kgs including 40 Kgs of rice and 10 Kgs of Atta.. Similarly there is discrimination in the recruitments, allotment of funds for developmental activities, he added and alleged that all this was being perpetrated under communal mindset and nefarious outlook to deliberately create regional tensions to divide the people. The BJP leader asked the activists to raise a strong public opinion against secessionism and anti-national activities to force the ruling leaders to act or quit. This is the party slogan in the on going campaign.
