First ever body hair transplant done in North India | Follicular unit extraction technique is unique: Dr Sohi | | Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Sept 8: Renowned plastic surgeon and hair transplant specialist Dr Prabdeep Sohi has done North India’s first body hair transplant. Dr Sohi, who is the pioneer of FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair transplant in the region said that normally hair follicles are taken from the back of the scalp but due to limited number of hair follicles in some patients, body hair follicles can be used as a source for hair transplant. Dr Sohi is director, Reviva Clinic, SCO 56-58, Sector 9-D, Chandigarh. Patient Mr Marc from Paris (France) was suffering from severe baldness. Because his donor area had a very limited supply for hair transplant, he refused hair transplant in the several parts of the world. Dr. Sohi said that this technique is recommended in cases where there is not sufficient scalp donor hair. Body Hair usually grows to about 5 cm so the potential patient must accept that he will cut his hair to the maximum of that length. This technique however may be the solution to extremely bald patients that could not proceed with hair transplantation in the past due to their limited donor scalp hair.
