NC leaders, workers paid glowing tributes
28th death anniversary of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah observed

Jammu, Sept 8: Glowing tributes were paid to former chief Minister, Sher-e-Kashmir late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 28th Death Anniversary by the leaders and workers of national conference at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, presided over by the Provincial president of National conference Rattan Lal Gupta here today. The function started with laying of wreaths on the idol of late Sheikh Abdullah followed by prayers for the peace to the soul of departed leader by various religious leaders. While paying tributes described him a towering personality of sub continent who created a history himself and his name will alive till the end of this world. Member Parliament Dr. Mehboob Beg, while paying tributes said the history of Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without Sheikh Abdullah who was bestowed with many qualities and earned lot of respect and love from the masses. He said it was Sheikh growing popularity that over 20 Lakh people participated in his funeral procession at Srinagar. He further said Sheikh worked for the development of this state irrespective of religion, caste and creed and land reforms was his greatest contribution, while paying tributes MLC Ajay Sadhotra said NC is committed to fulfill Sheikh Abdullah’s unfinished task and party leaderships’ first preference is to cement the bonds of unity among the different sections of the people. Rich tributes were paid to Sher-e-kashmir by Kr.Rachpal Singh Vice-Chairman Kissan Developmnet Advisory Board who asked the party men to follow the path shown by late leader. Sheikh Bashir Ahmed provincial secretary said late Sheikh Abdullah made the accession with India after rejecting the two nation theory. Addressing the function Mohammad Aslam Goni, Political advisor to Dr.Farooq Abdullah said Sher-e-Kashmir sacrificed his life for poor and down trodden. He said the roots of secularism were strengthened in the state in 1947 under his leadership. Lakshmi Dutta, Provincial President Women’s Wing while paying tributes said he was the messiah of poor and down trodden people. She said Late Sheikh Sahib was very much eager to uplift the women folk in the state and for this various schemes were introduced under social welfare department which definitely helped the women folk in the state.

Omar, Farooq pay homage to late Sher-i-Kashmir on his death anniversary
Srinagar, September 08-Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah alongwith Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah today visited the Mazar of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Hazratbal and offered fateh on the death anniversary of the late leader of Jammu and Kashmir being observed in the State today.
Omar Abdullah and Dr. Farooq also laid flower wreaths on the graves. They paid homage to the late leader and highlighted the sacrifices of Sher-i-Kashmir to uphold the cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stupendous service rendered for the well being and upliftment of the people especially poor, downtrodden and needy.
