| Gupta calls for snubbing anti national voices | | | JAMMU | OCT 26 Terming October 26, as a great day for the country, more so, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the former union minister and a senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that on this day in 1947, Maharaja of the state had signed the instrument of accession to India union which had empowered New-Delhi to send its troops to this state and defend it as part of India. Interacting with a group of ex servicemen who called upon the former union minister of state for defence, narrated the acts of bravery and valour of the Indian troops in pushing back the tribesmen who were backed by Pakistani troops. Prof. Gupta said that the instrument of accession was the legal authority which made the state as part of Indian union virtue of Act of Independence but it was unfortunate that the Prime Minister, Late Jawahar Lal Nehru, at the behest of Late Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and some others, agreed for a cease fire with Pakistan which had no locus standi in this state. This folly of New Delhi is still costing heavily and the Pak held areas of the state have come to be the centre of anti India machinations and breeding ground for terrorists, he added. Prof. Gupta said that another folly was committed by New Delhi that Maharaja Hari Singh who had signed the Instrument of accession to India by rejecting the theoratic state of Pakistan, was put in exile and uncalled for separate status was bestowed to Jammu and Kashmir just to appease Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and others under communal considerations. He asserted that legally as well constitutionally Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and asserted that only solution to the problems lies in treating this like other parts of the country. The BJP leader assailed the policies of the Congress led UPA government at the center and alleged that like in the past the Congress leadership is again fumbling over the slogans like of self-rule, autonomy and Azadi by talking about discussing all these issues, and thus, encouraging separatist and anti-national tendencies which of course are the outcome of communal division of Inida in 1947. The national interest’s manded that all such voice should be snubbed and the state should be brought at par with other parts of the country for all practical purposes, he stressed.
