Coca Cola to hold `Gully Cricket’ in Jammu

JAMMU Sept 8: Continuing its commitment to promote a healthy active lifestyle amongst youth in the country, Coca-Cola India today announced the next season of Sprite Gully Cricket Championships in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh.
Beginning September 10, championship will involve around 3000 young and budding cricket players from two states across eight cities of Jammu, Agra, Lucknow, Allahabad, Moradabad, Varanasi, Gorakpur and Kanpur. As part of the initiative, the winner selected from Super League matches will receive a mega prize of Rs four lakh and cricket gear autographed by Kolkata Knight Riders team.
This grass root level cricket championship aims to connect and engage with the youth across this part of country by tapping into their key passion – Cricket.
The championship is open for all young players between the age group of 15-35 years. In order to participate in the championship, interested individuals and teams can to SMS ‘Gully’ to 92277 92277 or call personally at 92277 92277 or log on to www.sprite.in.
As per Director Marketing (Flavors) Coca-Cola India, Srinivas Murthy, “Street cricket is the nursery of competitive cricket in India. Cricket, especially Twenty20 Cricket is a huge passion amongst the youth today. We received a tremendous response to the Sprite Gully Cricket Championship organized earlier this year and building on the same platform decided to further extend the initiative.
The eight city finalists selected from the city league matches will be awarded a cash prize of Rs one lakh while the runners up will get Rs 50,000.
