9/8/2010 10:19:38 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: After failure of talks with the Konkan Railway Authorities, on the issue of an advertisement seeking engineers from the entire country for jobs on prestigious Katra-Quazikund rail Project, All J&K Konkan Railways Consulting Engineers Association along with all other local employees working with Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) on the project today held a protest rally. Earlier, all J&K Engineers were on strike, which entered 11th day on Thursday.
The J&K Konkan Railways Consulting Engineers Association was demanding extension to engaged engineers whose five-year agreement would cease this year.
Rajpaul Singh Chairman All J&K Konkan Railways Consulting Engineers Association, while briefing the media persons on Thursday said, “Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is not showing any seriousness regarding the issue of seeking new engineers but also make fool of us by saying that the matter is with higher authorities at corporation Head quarters Mumbai for the last twelve days.”
“To mark our protest against KRCL and to bring the matter with the state Government today we hold a protest rally” Singh added.
“Most of the civil engineers working with the corporation have crossed the upper age limit. Instead of considering the case sympathetically, the KRCL has delivered a death-blow” Singh allege.
Singh repeatedly today said, “Today We have entered 11th day of the strike and we are demanding the immediate revocation of the advertisement and extension to the engaged engineers. Otherwise, we would fight for our rights and can go to any extent.”
L Parkesh, Chief Engineer (c 1) Head Quarters, KRCL on the issue when contacted said “today we have framed a committee to deal with the issue and hoping to get the results at the earliest as rounds of meeting are still on.”
