| HM commander kills accomplice over latter's illicit relations with his wife | | | sumit sharma

JAMMU, Sept 8: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Tuesday night shot dead his accomplice in Dharimandal forests of Gandoh in Doda over the latter's illicit relations with his wife.
SSP, Doda, Prabhat Singh said gun shots were heard in Dharimandal forests late last night.
Soon thereafter, cops were rushed to the area to find out the cause of firing, he added.
The SSP said while making searches in the Dharimandal woods, cops came across the bullet-ridden body of a militant. One AK rifle along with 30 rounds and three loaded magazines, besides a pouch, were also found lying close to the body, he added.
The dead was later identified as HM militant Firdous Zaral alias Gazi Furkan alias Chhotu, son of Ali Mohammad Zaral, of Marmat.
Prabhat said during police investigation, it was known that Firdous had developed illicit relations with HM commander Azad's wife Shehnaz.
As Azad knew about it, he shot Firdous dead last night, the SSP said and added other HM militants -- Qureshi and Zamil -- were also with their commander when the incident took place.
Firdous, who provided logistic support to militants in Gandoh area for a long time, had joined HM ranks six months ago.
Prabhat said Azad was wanted in several militancy related incidents and four murders, including that of his first wife.
However, as per intelligence inputs the incident was reflective of intra-outfit rivalry, low morale, poor discipline and lack of trust amidst the dwindling cadres of HM in Marmat area.
This has been brought about largely due to the relentless pressure and psychological initiative on the part of army in Marmat area. The HM appears to be on the verge of complete elimination, which is likely to be further expedited by the fissures and dissension in the group and open revolt.
Earlier, in July this year, another HM militant Chotta Bashir was killed by his accomplices in Desa area of Doda.
Sources said it was learnt that the younger terrorists were unwilling to stay with the outfit as they were discontented with the pseudo cause for which the leaders of the outfit pretended to be working.
Seeing the tyrant style of HM leadership, more such killings in the area, especially of younger cadre, could not be ruled out, the sources added. |
