| Protest in JU over assault on research scholarvv | | |

The scholars of Jammu University (JU) today protested against the assault on one of the JU scholars by an alleged outsider in the university campus this morning. According to reports, Suresh Magotra, an outsider assaulted a research scholar of JU’s Chemistry Department over some trivial issue after the heated exchange of words.
The scholars took up the matter with Prof. P S Pathania, Dean Students Welfare (DSW) JU. But, on his hesitation to register F.I.R in the police station against the assaulter, students assembled near the main entrance and forced the closure of gate for over half an hour and compelled DSW to register F.I.R against the assaulter. The protest was lead by Vikas Sharma.
According to sources, the said outsider was also a student of JU. He is also a student leader of prominent student organization of Jammu. Suresh Magotra is also a student leader of another prominent student organization. The reason behind the assault could also be linked to the rivalry over the students’ politics.
