J&K govt committed to fulfill aspirations of people: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 9: To deal with water scarcity in Kashmiri and Gujjar Basties, Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of deep drill mini tube well at Kashmiri Basti in Lower Belicharana, for which government has earmarked Rs. 1.18 crore for laying of water supply pipes and infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla said that coalition government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was fully aware of people's problems and making tireless efforts to mitigate the same on priority basis. He said that objective of the government to fulfill the all aspirations of the people by providing all infrastructural facilities at their doorsteps including drinking water, road connectivity, power supply, and education. He appealed people to cooperate with executing agencies in completing the ongoing development works in their respective areas adding that no work would be completed without the participation of general masses. He said that there is no constraint of funds for developing every nook and corner of the state on modern lines.
Minister said that the work on the up -gradation of Kunjwani-Satwari road to 4-lane would be started soon, for which the government has already released Rs 1 crore. He said that project is estimated to cost of Rs 50 crore. He said that work on the 4-lane bridge from Bhagwati Nagar to Belicharana, involving a cost of Rs. 150 crore started after completing the tendering formalities and would be completed within three years.
For improving drinking water infrastructure in the Gandhinagar and its adjoining areas,Bhalla said that government has earmarked Rs. 225 crore for this purpose adding that Rs. 3.5 crore tube well has already been dedicated to the People of Gandhi Nagar area. He said that Rs. 15 crore over head tanks are completed and inaugurated for storage of drinking water, on the inauguration of these tanks, the water scarcity in Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Channi Himmat, Raipur Satwari, Bathindi, Nai Basti, Sunjwan, Transport Nagar besides its adjoining areas are improved to a large extent.
Later, the Minister also attended a function at Asia Hotel organised by Crimson Enterprises and launched 'Kaiser' electronic products included water Purifier, Auto Batteries, Inverter Batteries, Stabilizers and UPS. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that in view of limited opportunities of government jobs, government has launched number of self-employment schemes adding that under the schemes, the unemployed educated youth willing to earn their livelihood by establishing their own self income generating ventures would be provided loans on low interest rates, besides necessary training and skill up-gradation facilities. He asked the educated unemployed youth to come forward and take full advantage of the schemes. He said that government will explore all possibilities to provide jobs to un-employed youth both in public and private sectors. He said that such type of ventures not only help the youth in generating the income resources, also help the unemployed educated youth for better skilled jobs there.
