| Shastri Memorial wins overall trophy in judo | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 9: Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School Patoli clinched the overall trophy after judokas from the school excelled in both boys and girls sections in the two-day inter-school under-19 judo tournament held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
While in girls section, Shastri School won four gold medals, the boys' team excelled with five gold yesterday. "There was hardly any healthy competition in boys section but in girls' category, a couple bouts were decided in close contests today. However, we fielded fully prepared complete teams in both boys and girls sections with representation in all the given weight categories," NIS qualified coach of the Shastri Memorial School, Rameshwar Singh Jamwal told SAN.
The Results: Girls: Below 36 kg: Kanchan Pandita, Army School Domana, Ist; Below 40 kg: Kavita Sharma, Shastri Memorial, Ist. Below 44 kg: Konica, Shastri Memorial, Ist. Below 48 kg: Paheli Sharma, KV-2, Ist. Below 52 kg: Shradha Sharma, Army School Domana, Ist. Below 56 kg: Gunjan, Army School Domana, Ist. Below 61 kg: Manvi Gupta, Shastri Memorial, Ist. Plus 61 (Open): Sushmita Hangloo, Shastri Memorial, Ist.
BASKETBALL: MHAC Nagbani boys, girls excel
Winning both boys and girls titles, MHAC Nagbani today made a clean sweep in the two-day inter-school under-19 basketball tournament played at Mini Stadium, Parade, here.
In boys final, MHAC Nagbani defeated cagers from Government SRML Higher Secondary School 25-11. Earlier, in the semifinals, Nagbani defeated JK Public School 38-20 while SRML downed Delhi Public School (DPS) 24-13.
Meanwhile, in girls section, MHAC Nagbani defeated JK Public School 17-05. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Nagbani registered a 26-10 easy win over Army School Domana and JK Public beat KC Public School 25-12.
