JU Psychology students forms association | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 9: Psychology students of Jammu University (JU) have formed Psychological Association for addressing the dearth of employment opportunities in Jammu. Munish gandotra was unanimously elected as the president while Anirudh Khajuria and Nagesh Jamwal were elected as general secretary and spokesperson respectively. In the first formal meeting of the association, the president of association Munish Gandotra showed concern that negligible posts were advertised in the department of psychology as the subject has hardly been introduced at the higher education level. The association aims to bring the present situation to the notice of higher authorities so that relevant steps can be taken. The aims also include increasing awareness about the subject, its relevance ,employment opportunities that can be created in various educational institutions like Higher Secondary school, Degree Colleges and Education Colleges. About 12 posts have been advertised in Psychology since 2003, the year of passing out of the first batch from Jammu University. The association also requested concerning Principals, HODs of various Psychology Departments to promote the idea of students and attest to the need of developing the subject in the state. The Association will forward a formal memorandum explaining the issues to Director School Education and Director Colleges very soon. |
