| Rs.3.64 cr spent on rehabilitation work in earthquake hit areas | | IAF gifts one more Primary school to Kalaspatti inhabitants | |
JAMMU OCT-26- On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations the Air Vice Marshal Anil Chopra inaugurated one more Primary school at Kalasapatti and celebrated Eid with the inhabitants of the area. Air Commodore Bordoloi and other senior officers of the Indian Air Force were also present. On this occasion sweets were distributed among the children and the villagers. Following large- scale damages due to last year’s devastating earthquake, the IAF has adopted several villages for rehabilitation and has so far spent Rs.3.64 crore on relief works. To provide timely relief to the earthquake victims the IAF has set up a relief camp at the Urusa village and restored water supply and constructed school building in the village. The Force is constructing nine school buildings and community centers in the affected villages. To ensure regular power supply, it has taken up work on five mini hydel power projects near the affected villages, which are nearing completion. Earlier, the Air Officer Commanding in Chief had handed over one middle school and a community center to the locals on August 15 last and expressed his confidence that they will achieve their goal with the cooperation of the villagers.
