| All eyes set on CCS meet to bring normalcy in Kashmir | | | early times report Jammu, Sept 12: After the flare up of violence in parts of Kashmir valley all eyes are now set on the outcome of the meeting of the cabinet committee on security scheduled to take place on Monday in the national capital under the chairman ship of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The crucial meeting is going to set the tone for the turn of events in the days to come. The mood in the valley is tense and the air is filled with mixed emotions ahead of the meet. Despite the strict curfew restrictions imposed on sunday the protesters made an attempt to attack house of the congress cabinet minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed. One person was injured in the attack after police dispersed them from the scene. Before coming out with the fresh road map on Kashmir in view of the prevailing situation the union government was keen to hold discussions at the highest level and evolve a broader political consensus in a bid to reach out to the people in Kashmir. The CCS meeting has now assumed far greater significance in the back drop of fresh violence in parts of Kashmir after eid prayers. Even the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had taken a tough stand in support of diluting provisions of AFSPA has started singing in different tune by admitting that the Saturday's turn of events may cast its shadow on the deliberations during the CCS meet. The Union govt which was inching closer to announce major sops is likely to review all its major decisions with regard to security situation to ensure any goof up at this stage may not help the separatists to further consolidate their clout in Kashmir valley. |
