Govt launches numerous developmental schemes : Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 12: Reiterating that coalition government is determined to provide all basic amenities to the people, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that numerous developmental and welfare schemes have been launched in every nook and corner of the State to improve the living standard of the people. This was stated by the Minister after laying the foundation of 900 meter long deep drain from Bathindi Marh to Sunjwan Morh, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 lakh. Bhalla said that Government is planning to construct double-lane flyover from Marble Market to Greater Kailash, for which a proposal of Rs. 9 crore has been submitted to Centre Government for funding. He said that after release of funding, the work would be started adding that with the construction of flyover, the rush on Marble Market road would be reduced. He said that the Government has approved Rs.2.33 crore for construction of 4 kilometer long Bathindi-Bermeei link road besides Rs. 3.5 crore for construction of tube well near Kerani Talab. He said that for improving the power scenario in the area, Government has upgraded 6.5 KVA transformer upto 10.5 KVA and provided power from G-8 feeder to the Bathindi and Sunjwan areas. The Minister said that work of link road from Sunjwan to Sainik Colony is under execution, would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 17 lakh. He said that the coalition government was committed to provide better road connectivity to people adding that every nook and corner of the state are being connected with the nearest urban pockets. He further said that the proposal for inclusion of Bathindi, Sunjwan, upper area of Guru Teg Bhadur Nagar, Apna Vihar, Narwal and Bandhu Rakh in the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipality was under active consideration. Bhalla asked the officers to personally monitor the quality of works and sought the cooperation of the people in ensuring the completion of the ongoing development projects within prescribed time. At Trikuta Nagar, the road widening works from Sector 1 to Sector -4started in the presence of the Minister for which Rs. 7 lakh has been earmarked. At Peer Baba Rakh Bahu, the Minister asked the R&B authorities to immediately start the up-gradation work on link road and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 18 lakh. Regarding distribution of financial assistance under IAY scheme to those whose houses were damaged due to incessant rains, Bhalla said that instructions were issued to Rural Development Department and Revenue authorities to assess the loss of the affected so that the compensation could be disbursed among them. At Mirkhari Mohalla in Channi Himmat, the laying of 900 meter water supply pipes in the uncovered areas of the locality was started in the presence of the Minister, for which Rs. 12 lakh has been earmarked. At Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Domana, Bhalla while addressing the devotees said that coalition Government is making all out efforts to eradicate poverty from every nook and corner of the State. He said that for this purpose several schemes have been launched to upgrade the socio-economic condition of the urban poor in providing all basic services to urban poor. The Minister appealed the people to help the government in restoring the peace and normalcy in the state adding that peace is imperative for development. He said that some anti-social elements are misleading the people of valley on their vested interests adding that people of the valley are facing lot of hardships during bandh in Kashmir. He said that education of the students is badly affected besides markets are shut down. He appealed the masses not to believe on those elements that are disturbing the situation. |
