AJKPA to hold protest rallies to secure rights of pensioners.

Jammu, Sept 12: All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association convenor Mukund Lal Sharma held a press conference on Sunday, where he he took the stock of the anti pensioners, anti employees and anti ex servicemen policies of the state Government. The association has decided to organize series of protest rallies to mark the resentment. During this schedule rally the pensioner leaders will have mass contact with pensioners and start new year membership drive and build a stir against the state government who is quite apathetic about the long pending of the pensioners and employees of the state. "It will not be out of place to regret here that the government has increased the monthly salary of the legislators with three times hike and additional perks amounting to more than eighty thousands rupees. Moreover, the legislators have also been given Rs.1000/- per month as medical allowance," said Mukund Lal Sharma . The association criticized the policy of the state government of delaying tactics in solving problem of the pensioners of the state who have been struggling for last two years as central government has given all benefits to pensioners of central government employees. Raising their demands the pensioners said that the arrears of revision of pension w.e.f 1-1-2006 to 30-6-2009 be paid in one installment in respect of state pensioners. The additional quantum of pension in favour of state pensioners after attaining the age of 80,90,95,100 years and above at the ate of 20%,30%, 40%, 50% and 100% on the analogy of central government older pensioners be considered. That the medical allowance be enhanced from Rs 300/- to Rs 1000/- to the state pensioners. Release of 6% DA installment due from January 2009 to June 2009 with full arrears. That original amount of computation of pension grant in favour of pensioners be recovered in 10 years in stead of 15 years. 13 ½ % VAT imposed on the sale of canteen items for the defence personnel be abolished forthwith. The protest rallies will be held on 19th September at 11am at main park Talab Tillo. On 26th September at 11am at Old Janipur Park, on 3rd October at 11am at Arya Samaj Mandir Rehari .On 10th October at 11am Gole Market Gandhi Nagar and on 17th October at 11am Mandi Park Jammu.
