9/12/2010 11:53:26 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12: National Secular Forum has highlighted the worst condition of Government Degree College (GDC) Samba as the college lacks adequate infrastructure.
Addressing a press conference here today, NSF president Vikas Sharma said that the college authorities are holding the science streams in the college but there are no laboratories to perform experiments and this in turn is lagging the students of that college with the other students of India.
A large amount of money is being charged from the students in the form of development funds but there is no such development in the college.
He said that apart from the college the government schools in Samba are also being lagging behind as they too lack the infrastructure. He said that the government is not paying any attention towards educational hubs where the students think of making their career.
Samba has become the industrial hub and there are many industries which give out harmful chemicals which are in turn affects the living of the people in the adjoining areas. He said that Pollution Control board being a silent spectator clearly shows that is no eye of the pollution control board on the industries and factories which give out harmful gases and chemicals affecting the living habits of the people. He said that local people are neglected in giving employment to the residents of Samba in these industries and factories. He further said that there is worst condition of the roads in the areas of the Samba and the development work of these roads have come to stand still and the worst condition of the road lead to day to day accidents.
He said these are all government inabilities to do the development work in all forms and if the same situation remains there Samba is not going to progress and compete with the other regions of the country.
Among those who were present in the press conference included Surjit Chowdhary distt. Chairman, Sanjay Sharma, Ashwani Kumar and others.
