Universalisation of education on top priority: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 12: To achieve the universalization of education, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has called upon the private educational institutions to play a constructive role in spreading education to every nook and corner of the State and dispel the darkness of ignorance and illiteracy.
The Minister speaking at 48th Foundation Day of Dewan Badri Nath Vidya Mandir, Amarvilla at Canal Road, here this evening.
Appreciating the initiatives of school management of imparting quality education to the students, Bhalla called upon the teaching fraternity to put in their sincere efforts in shaping the personality of the students so they could face the emerging challenging in the world of competitions.
Describing teachers as pillars of nation, the Minister said that they had greater role to play for building the country a strong and prosperous nation. For the purpose, he stressed that every effort in this regard be made to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony by providing moral education to students.
Elucidating the educative value of organizing annual days in educational institutions, the Minister said that such occasions provide an opportunity to the budding students to exhibit their hidden talent on the common platform which further help them to build self-confidence adding that co-curricular activities should form an integral part of the curriculum for the overall development of student's personality. He said that universalisation of education on top priority of the Coalition Government.
Reiterating the commitment of the present Government in spreading the reach of education at every corner of the State, Bhalla said
Government has taken many initiatives in this regard by opening and upgradating scores of new schools especially in remote and far-off areas so that the students could get the education near to their doorsteps.
Earlier, Bhalla also released a book titled 'Spirit and Science' written by Sat Pal Razdan at a function held at K L Saigal Hall in Abhinav Theatre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that writers are playing pivotal role in projecting the cultural and heritage of the State by writing books.
