BHADERWAH: A village defence committee (VDC) member was disarmed and arrested here today for allegedly making a rape bid on a girl. Police sources said VDC member Janak Raj, son of Hari Ram of Malathi, tried to outrage the modesty of a girl at Bala.
When the girl's parents lodged a report with police, the VDC member was taken into custody.
Additional SP, Bhaderwah, T S Katoch expressed his ignorance about the incident.
Deputy commissioner, Doda, Farooq Ahmad Khan, however, said the accused had been disarmed for his alleged act. |
