| New Delhi under constant pressure | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 12: The deteriorating situation in Kashmir Valley and unexpected arson and violence on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr yesterday has further added to the worries of Omar Abdullah led coalition Government which is already facing a stiff opposition from various political parties for its dismal performance and failure in containing the law and order problem in Kashmir Valley. The yesterday's mob violence that too on the holy festival of Eid has also belied the claims of the Chief Minister that peace and normalcy can be restored after the withdrawal of security forces and holding of dialogue with separatists. But the separatists who are controlled by Jehadi outfits proved Abdullah totally wrong after they succeeded in instigating the mob on large scale violence and arson in Summer Capital yesterday giving ample indications to those who are at helm of affairs in the state or at New Delhi that withdrawal of troops or revoking of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) will prove suicidal. They have also proved Abdullah totally wrong who had not only pleaded for the same before the Union Government and Prime Minister two days before the Eid but also had succeeded in winning the support of some of the Ministers in Union Cabinet including the Home Minister. But the yesterday's situation has now forced them to change their mind on withdrawal of troops from some districts in the state as well as on revoking of AFSPA. The Union Government according to sources has also changed its mind and it is again under the constant pressure from the opposition BJP as well as other right wing organizations and they are pressing hard for the dismissal of Omar Abdullah Government. The sources said that the right wing organisations have made it clear to Prime Minister to take some drastic and result oriented decisions on Kashmir otherwise the situation will go further out of control. They besides demanding giving free hand to security forces in dealing with the separatists and anti-national elements in the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular have also pressed for immediate dismissal of Omar Abdullah led coalition Government which they alleged has failed to come to the expectations of masses in the state. Besides the opposition parties in J&K including PDP, BJP and Panthers Party which had earlier also demanded the dismissal of Omar Abdullah Government have again guard up their lions against it after the yesterday's mob violence in Srinagar city and renewed their demand seeking immediate dismissal of the Government. These parties have said that the continuance of this Government in office is a threat to the peace in the state as the coalition is a great liability for the people of the state and its dismissal is imperative for the restoration of total peace and normalcy. The sources said a sizable number of people in Kashmir is also of the opinion that 60 percent situation will improve in the Valley the movement the present coalition is sacked and any delay in this regard will further complicate the situation. Sources said the people believe the situation had not gone so out of hand had the State Government adopted a pragmatic approach to deal with it. The Government has lost total contact with the people on ground level so how can it enjoy the good will of the masses is the opinion of a common Kashmiri now who even blame the New Delhi of selecting Chief Minister's on their own choice and ignoring the aspirations of the people in the state, sources added. Sources said the common man in the Valley is of the opinion that the mandate in 2008 Assembly elections was not in favour of Omar Abdullah as NC had not projected him as Chief Ministerial candidate at that time. |
