JAMMU, Sept 12: Underlining the need for an immediate change in the policy of the "handlers" of Kashmir situation and attributing it to shoddy politics, Member of Parliament (MP) Lal Singh today regretted that the NC-Congress government in the state lacked "guts and sincerity" to deal with the prevailing unrest in Kashmir.
"Though I am part of this government, I regret that it does not have the will, guts and sincerity to deal with the crisis in Kashmir," he asserted in a function of Trance dance group at Jammu University.
"It is our bad luck that those people are sitting in the government who lack courage and determination to deal with the anti-national elements in the valley," Singh added.
The strongly-worded statement has come from the Congress MP at a time when his party, coalition partner NC and other major political parties have emphasised their commitment to fight jointly for the restoration of peace in Kashmir.
Singh, however, sought to overcome the blow to the peace engagement in the troubled Kashmir. The anti-India forces in Kashmir were insolently indulging in violent activities, but the government was not acting tought against them, he lamented.
The correct response at this hour was not to be cowed down by these violent acts, or allow fear to interrupt the process of development in the state, he said and added, "We need to act tought against them."
Singh said these elements were acting at the behest of the forces that were inimical to india.
He said Kashmir was a beautiful place to live, but the anti-national forces there had spoilt its beauty.
In this context, he gave the example of a monkey who would destroy the splendid nest of a sparrow only because it did not want the bird to stay at a beautiful place.
He also called upon the youth of the state to beware of such monkeys, while emphasising the need for maintaining communal brotherhood at all costs. |
