JMC conducts anti-encroachment drive | | | EARLYTIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 13: A team of Jammu Municipal Corporation led by Commissioner, JMC SC Sawhney along with a team of officers comprising Joint Commissioner (Adm), Chief Enforcement Officers and field staff of Enforcement Wing undertook an extensive anti-encroachment drive in various areas of Jammu City. The drive was conducted at Below Gumat, Vinayak Bazar, Jewel Area, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Bohri, Akhnoor Road, Bakshi Nagar to clear the footpaths / pavements from the encroachments made by the shopkeepers / vendors by keeping goods / articles thereby causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also obstructing the free flow of vehicular traffic. During the drive 5 truck loads of material like two wheelers, refrigerators, tyres, chairs, juice machine, tables, fans, gas cylinder, dish antennas, sign boards, hardware items, brooms, footmats, carton of snacks, utensils and scrap items were seized which were placed upon footpaths by the shopkeepers and vendors in these areas. Besides this, the Commissioner, JMC along with his staff inspected the Lovely Sweets Shop at Vinayak Bazar and destroyed about 100 Kgs of unwholesome sweets which were also exposed to dust and flies and was sub-standard. The team also lifted two samples of sweets and sent them to Public Analyst, Jammu for analysis. The Municipal Commissioner once again appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops / establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults. The Rehari owners are also asked to keep their reharies mobile as the stationary reharies are source of obstruction for the free flow of vehicular traffic and also cause inconvenience to the pedestrians. |
