State Govt fails to curb violence in Srinagar: JPPF

JAMMU, Sept 13: Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF), Chairman, Paviter Singh addressing a press conference on Monday, on the deteriorating law and order situation in the State of Jammu and Kashmir in particular reference to the incidents of lawlessness in Srinagar on the eve of Eid. Serious concern was shown by JPPF on the total failure of the State Government to curb and control the violence in Srinagar. The situation which has emerged out by the attack on the tourists in Srinagar has assumed wide resentment all across the country is condemned by JPPF and it demands stern action against the disruptive forces who are behind this whole violence. JPPF has also shown concern on non action of the Government in containing the disruptive forces in the Kashmir and it also said that no action has been taken against the person involved in attack. It also felt and strongly recommended that Mirwaiz Omar and Yasin Malik who led the mob to Lal Chowk be immediately arrested and should be punished as per the law of the land. It strongly recommended that anti National forces who are bent upon creating disturbance and shattering the very fabrics of communal harmony and brotherhood among the different sections of the society for their vested interests in the State be brought to book and dealt sternly. JPPF also condemned the efforts being put in by some anti national elements to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir on the regional lines and appealed to the people of Jammu region vigilant against such forces and maintain perfect communal harmony, amity and brotherhood. It also criticized the move of some leaders to amend the AFSPA and curtail the powers of the Army and said any move to amend it would have serious repercussions all across the country in general and Jammu region in particular.
The leaders who addressed the press conference were Paviter Singh Retd. Judge, Sunil Sethi, Naayan Singh, Inderjit Khajuria, M L Sharma, S Gajan Singh, Romesh Arora, Dev Raj Baru and Ved Parkash Sharma.
