| MAM in quarterfinals of inter-college football | | | early times report
JAMMU, Sept 13: Title holders, Government MAM College today made it into the last eight stages of quarterfinals beating Sant Rocha Singh (SRS) Degree College 5-1 in the inter-college men's football tournament, organised by GGM Science College under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Science College grounds, here.
Sparing little chances for the opponent from SRS College to make a room for reaching the goal area, MAM men completely dominated the fields throughout. Earlier, both MAM and SRS got bye in the first round to straightway play into the pre-quarterfinals.
Gagandeep opened the account for MAM striking the first blood in the very second move netting the ball in the 5th minute. Sahil scored the second goal within a gap of three minutes dodging the advancing goal-keeper in the eighth minute.
Aditya Manhas helped the side make it a big win contributing two goals in the 27th and 45th minute of the match. Raja Hassain (19th), Viaks Kotwal (29th) and Amarjot Singh (39th) were other scorers from winners MAM College.
In other match of the day, Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College of Engineering registered a big 7-1 win over Government SPMR College of Commerce to move into the second round of pre-quarterfinals. Surjit Singh (20th), Tanveer Singh (28th), H Singh (34th), Jeevan Jodh Singh (45th and 46th), Surjit Singh (68th) and Sukhjot Singh (69th) were scorers from winners MBS College. Another scheduled match of the day ended in walkover.
