Congress high command for better coordination between NC ,party leaders | | | early times report Jammu, Sept 13: The Congress high command is said to have sent two messages to the party unit in Jammu and Kashmir and its ruling partner, the National Conference. In what can be viewed as directions under the garb of messages from the Congress high command to party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, the former have sought firm steps that would resolve the problem of dissidence in the organisation. Sources said that the party high command is aware of the fact that a small section of party leaders, most of them having hardly any base among the people, have started posing problems for the loyalists headed by the PCC Chief,Saif-ud-Din Soz.The result is that a wrong impression has gone round that the Congress is a divided house and that too at a juncture when the state in faced with worst ever crisis in terms of the current unrest. According to these sources, party leaders have been told to close their ranks and first of all woo back the dissidents to the main camp and in case they prefer keeping their shop open a detailed report on their activities be sent to the party high command so that disciplinary measures were initiated against them. Sources said that under the second message the National Conference leadership and those running the congress unit in Jammu and Kashmir have been told to take in hand measures that could ensure better coordination between the two ruling partners than it has been witnessed during the last over one year. Both Saif-ud-Din Soz,Ghulam Nabi Azad,Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah have been told to sit together and discuss the problem of lack of coordination between the two ruling parties. After a detailed discussion they should initiate measures that could promote coordination not only between the leaders of the two parties but among the workers of the two organizations at the grassroots level. The Congress high command has conveyed to the two organisations in Jammu and Kashmir that there is no coordination between the workers of the two parties at the grassroot level. And in certain cases the workers of the two parties have been seen working against the interests of the each other. The Congress leadership has suggested to the NC leadership and the leaders of the state unit of the Congress to work out a fresh unity formula so that the space left open for the mainstream organisations was filled by the Congress and the NC leaders and workers which was needed for countering the propaganda and the campaign launched by the Kashmiri separatists. Till now these two parties have not been able to counter the propaganda launched by the separatists and a situation has risen where the mainstream political leaders find it difficult to promote rather revive their links with the people in the state. Leaders of the two ruling parties have been told to join hands and move together in the rural and urban areas for campaigning against those indulging in violence. |
