Mismanagement, appeasement at galore at JKTDC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 13: Management of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has embarked upon a high-profiled strategy in customer service by charging exorbitantly. Daily customers are furious by over-night hike in charges of beverages, food, snacks and even for tea and coffee. Besides, the charging of Rs 10 for parking a vehicle adds salt to their wounds. Since its establishment, a premise around the building of JKTDC was used as parking place by daily customers. But in a new development higher authorities have ordered for parking charge for every vehicle, which was not less than shock to customers who used to visit the place for the 30-40 years for enjoying drinking and eating. "I remember that for last twenty five years no parking was charged here but now it is being done for earning revenue which should be a welcome step. But matter of serious concern is that a vehicle parked for weeks together is also charged Rs 10 only and one who stopovers for just one hour too is charged with same amount" Prof. Gul a 25 year old customer narrated. "What is the interference of media into it" retorted Managing Director (MD) Satish Nehru when contact for comments over the issue. He further informed that a sign board stands erected depicting premises as a paid parking. But fact of matter is that when permanent neighbors and vehicle owners were asked weather they have seen sign board till today, they refused categorically saying that they have not seen anything like that. Sources informed that instead of utilizing space for public relief, the space in lobby used by tourists and visitors as brief resting compound has been intentionally rendered idle. "I don't see any reasoning in removing sofas from lobby by authorities, space has become of no use since then" Janki Nath a senior citizen, who used to spent an hour or two with other senior citizen over tea or coffee said. It is important to mention that for any government department or any government establishment it is mandatory to display a notification for public awareness whenever any new version of scheme is introduced or already existing one is removed, according rule of law. Nothing as such was felt necessary by authorities. Even Nehru did not bothered to reply a question and disconnected phone in anger. All efforts to connect Minister of State Nasir Sogami proved futile whereas Minister for Tourism Nawang Ringzin Jora's phone when tried, replied as "switched off". |
