7 day police remand for Girdawar, Patwari | | | early times report Jammu, Sept 13: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu AK Koul today granted five day police remand of Gian Chand Girdawar, Munshi Ram Patwari who were arrested by the VOJ Team on Sunday September 12, 2010 on the basis a complaint. Chief Prosecuting Officer VOJ Purshtom Sharma today filed an application with the prayer that accused Gian Chand Girdawar and Munshi Ram Patwari be remanded to police custody for a period of seven days. The Investigating officer Kuljeet Singh was also present and submitted CD File for perusal of the Court. The court afterr hearing CPO Purshtom Sharma for VOJ perused the medical record of accused, CD File and the application. The accused have been booked by the VOJ u/s 5(2) PC Act r/w section 161 RPC after being caught red-handed along with the bribe amount on September 12, 2010. It has been submitted by CPO VOJ that certain aspects of the case need to be investigated in the light facts alleged by the complainant and the recovery of the bribe amount from the accused, more so when the statement of complainant is yet to be recorded. Court observed that keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, the stage of investigation and other connected aspects that detention of accused in police custody is necessary to facilitate completion of investigation at earliest and granted five days police custody remand of the accused for further investigation with the direction that IO shall ensure their medical check-up after very 48 hours or when and if need arises. The investigation shall be completed without any further delay, Court ordered. --JNF
