Wushu, a dying game in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sep 15: Wushu, Wushu is a non-traditional role-playing game, though is famous in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, is a neglected lot because of the reasons best known to those at the helm of the affairs. It is an indoor game, and players rue that there is not even single hall exclusively for the game, leave aside availability of other facilities to the players. The players have to practice the game anywhere without facilities and kits from the government side. There are about 450 Wushu players presently coming to the MAM Stadium, Jammu for practice. Kuldeep Handoo, one of the reputed personalities of the game said that the game is given priority for its further promotion, but it was neglected lot in the state. Even proper halls, where the students could learn the tricks were not available in the winter capital. "We had raised the issue with the concerned authorities many times but nothing has been done on the ground, added Handoo. The students have to buy the kits on their own for practice. "There were no infrastructure provided by the government then how can the budding sportsperson refine their talents and how can we perform with excellence at the national level on behalf of the state" stated one of the sportsperson. |
