Council suspends another coach for dereliction of duties | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sep 15: Undeterred by yesterday's suspension of coaches by the Secretary State Sports Council, senior basketball coach of the state, Saktish kept himself away from the coaching centre at Mini Stadium, Parade to face suspension today. Saktish, who was found absent from duties by the Secretary during a surprise visit at different coaching centers this morning, has been placed under suspension along with seven other coaches and instructors by an order issued by Secretary, S A Leharwal. On the second consecutive day today, Secretary along with Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma paid surprise visits to coaching centers of Mini Stadium, Parade, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi and Play Field Shastri Nagar, informed sources told SAN. Those suspended by the Sports Council included a hockey coach of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Gurmeet Kour, who was posted at MA Stadium. As per the insiders, the Sports Council has also decided to recommend Gurmeet's transfer from Jammu, who, otherwise is on deputation to Jammu and Kashmir. Another coach placed under suspension by the Secretary today was Mushtaq Zargar of wrestling. Mushtaq, who was recently transferred to Jammu from Srinagar, had gone on Idd celebrations to Srinagar. He failed report back on the given date of September 13. Among others coaches who have been placed under suspension by an order issued by the Secretary here today are Shotu Lal (instructor fencing), Jugal Kishore (judo), Dilbag Singh ( instructor lawn tennis), Shamsh Deen (athletics), Rekha Devi (yoga), Gurmeet Singh (SAI hockey), Saktish (basketball) and Mushtaq Zargar (wrestling). |
