Khajuria blames Azad for plight of Dental College students | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 15: It is indeed unfortunate that the students of Indira Gandhi Dental College have to suffer at the time when the Union Health Ministry is headed by a leader from J&K state. This was stated by BJP former State President and Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria while talking to the members of the agitating students of said institution, who called on him and narrated their woes in view of the refusal of Dental Council of India (DCI) to grant approval to the Government Dental College, Jammu. Khajuria said that a large number of students are studying in first, second and third year of BDS course in the said Dental College and the recent decision of the Dental Council of India has sent a wave of unrest among these students as they are finding their future in dark due to the callous approach of the state government towards the issue. He said that these students have been agitating for last few months and the government has only tried to provide lip service instead of taking up the issue with the Dental Council of India in an effective and strong way. He said the most unfortunate is the silence of the Union Health Minister, who hails from this state and should have used his authority in the very beginning so that the matter was resolved and students were not forced to abandon their classes and come on roads for their rights. Khajuria said that it was the prime responsibility of the state government to ensure that the institution run by it is duly recognized and affiliated but the government has failed to discharge its duty. He said the government should realize the gravity of the situation and immediately take up the matter with the DCI so that the students are relieved of the unnecessary tension. He reiterated party's full support to the genuine demand of the agitating BDS students and declared that the BJP will take up their issue at all the appropriate places. |
