| Construction of GMS Pathwad building stayed | | Allegations of misappropriations | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sep15: There are many loopholes in the state School Education department, though there have been some signs of improvement in the scenario, but some examples of alleged corruption and highhandedness charred the progress of the department. Construction on new building of Government Middle School in village Pathwad in block Dansal, district Jammu is victim of local politics in alleged connivance of concerned officials. The school having nominal number of students was upgraded almost two years ago. Local Education Committee, made for regular check on the functioning of school, got stayed the construction of the new building from the court on August 10, 2010, alleging the concerned department and contractor did not take them into confidence. Chairman of the committee, Beli Singh said that the work has been going in spite of court stay. Ground of stay was that no technical expert was supervising the construction work. He also said they had to move to court because concerned officials including ZEO and CEO did nothing in this regard even after repeated representations. Other members of the committee namely Beli Singh, Balwan Chand, Tara Singh said that they were protesting from the day when the construction work was started.
