Mankotia blames state govt for neglecting hilly districts' developments

Jammu, Sept 16: Balwant Singh Mankotia MLA and state president JKNPP has blamed the state government for neglecting hilly districts of state i.e. Kishtiwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and Reasi especially in the field of road connectivity.
He said that erstwhile district Doda and Udhampur are lowest and 2nd lowest district in the state having road connectivity.
He also said that main road from Batote to other districts including Doda and Kishtwar falls in a danger zone and can again slide at any time and erstwhile district Doda can be disconnected from other parts of the state.
Keeping in view the additional connectivity for both the districts from Sudhmahdev (Udhampur) toGhoa (Marmat Doda) a road project of estimated cost Rs. 495 crore have been prepared by R&B department. According to the DPR, 26.20 km new road length and 3 km tunnel with double lane and widening of additional Goha to Khalani road having length of 27 km was also proposed in the project.
He further added that it was decided that the project will be submitted to NABARD for funding but now state government is planning to hand over to BRO.
He urged the state government to start construction work on this project immediate without further delay.
Mankotia also flayed the Union government for slow funding in PMGSY scheme in the state due to which huge liability of contractors is lying with department and further execution work on these road projects become very slowly.
Mankotia also demanded the judicial prove into the Mendhar episode.
He further added that VDC and SPOs work very hard with full dedication and play very important role during peak time of militancy in the state especially in hilly districts of Kishtiwar, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua and part of the state to crush the militancy.
He urged the Union government and state government that they should not forget their sacrifices and their all genuine demands should be fulfilled immediately.
