Bitta Karate for representation in dialogues
10/27/2006 10:00:42 PM

Srinagar, Oct 27: Released on Eid after 17 years of detention, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karate, today demanded that the real representatives of Kashmiris should be included in the composite dialogue process and warned the 'self-styled representatives' to refrain from harming the ongoing movement.
Welcoming the composite dialogue process that is going on between India and Pakistan at different levels, the once famous hit man of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) said that he stood for the peaceful, just and long lasting resolution of Kashmir issue.
Karate was addressing at a public meeting organized by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front along with National Front and Muslim League near his house in Guru Bazaar area of Srinagar. The 40-year-old rebel, associated with JKLF, was arrested in 1991 in Chattabal area of Srinagar and spent 17 years in different jails.
"I appeal Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Pakistan President General Parvaiz Musharraf to include the real representatives of Kashmir in the composite dialogue process so that the solution is acceptable to one and all," Karate said. Karate was reading from a paper as he began his address with the statement "I am not a great orator, still I have some important things to say to you people."

Paying homage to the people who lost their lives during the ongoing struggle, Karate said that only they were the real heroes of the nation. "

"We shall not allow any self-styled leaders and parties to malign the ongoing movement and damage the just struggle for which leaders like Maqbool Bhat sacrificed their lives," the just released rebel said adding that JKLF was bound to take the mission the party had started to its logical end.

Addressing the gathering earlier, JKLF leader, Javed Ahmad Mir termed Karate as the "first-line separatist leader" and said that "I am ready to work under the leadership of Bitta (Karate)."

Giving a call of unity, Mir said that JKLF was one from New York to Europe and Saudi to Kashmir. "The stage where the present movement has reached is all because of the sacrifices of guerillas like Bitta," Mir said.
