| Sant Singh Tegh’s death anniversary observed | | | Early times report
Jammu, Sept 17: The 3rd Death Anniversary of Sardar Sant Singh Tegh, Freedom fighter and veteran leader was observed on 16th Sept. 2010, with reverence to pay homageto the veteran leader. A congregation was organized in memory of the Late leader bySher-e-Pahaar Sardar Sant Singh Tegh Memorial Society under the Chairmanship Of Sh. Mangat Ram Sharma, Ex. Dy. CM, at Gurudwara Santpura Danna, Nanak Nagar, Jammu. Sh.Mangat Ram Sharma, Sh. Rattan lal Gupta, Prov. President N.C
S.Gurmukh Singh Advocate, Ex. Min. and many other speakers paid rich tributes to Tegh Sahib, remembered his contributions and services to the people of the state especially during partition.
As a leader with deep secular commitments he worked with stawlworts like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Jai Parkash Narayan, Master Tara Singh, Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and many others during freedom. He played prominent role in the formation of National conference from the erstwhile Muslim Conference under the aegeis of Sheikh Abdullah. His tireless service to all sections of people had endeared him to Hindus, Muslim & Sikhs alike.
It was appealed to the Govt. that as already agreed by the JMC a statue of the veteran leader be installed at some prominent suitable place in Jammu City at the earliest. It was pledged that the society will continue to work on the footsteps set by the great leader for the welfare of the down trodden poor and needy people of the state.
